Kathmandu, November 4: Prices of vegetables have doubled in the capital “Kathmandu”.
Most of the vegetables need to be imported from Terai but due to landslide and flood this year has submerged most of the vegetable fields, which has reduced supply. This has led to rampant hike in price.
Consumers are also in trouble due to the increase in the price. In the past day hundred was enough to buy vegetables for a week but now thousand is not enough for morning and evening.
The price record of Kalimati Fruits and Vegetable Market Development Board (KFVMDB) shows that the price of small tomatoes has spiked by Rs 70 to 78 per kilogram over the past four weeks.
Consumers have started thinking that they can afford chickens rather than vegetables.
