SSP Shyam Khatri surrenders to district court Morang

Morang, 31 May : Absconding Senior Superintendent of Police Shyam Khatri who was accused of being involved in 33 quintal gold smuggling case has surrendered to district court Morang.

SSP Khatri surrendered in the court after the INTERPOL issued a diffusion notice to arrest him. Khatri had been absconding for a month after the letter was filed to investigate him by the special investigation committee formed by the government.

Chuda Mani Upreti aka Gore, one of the main accused in the 33.5 kg gold smuggling case had given a statement that SSP Khatri used to charge Rs 50,000 per kg for clearing the smuggled gold from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), where Khatri used to work as chief of the police.
